"Death"

This one-of-a-kind Angolan/Congolese crescent sword, completed in the month of July 2008, displays
antiqued copper wire wrap and several aged brass tacks over hand carved exotic Bubinga wood.
A true chopper. This style of sword goes back a good while deep into the precolonial era among
the Angolan people for you can find it's ceremonial version throughout a large area which includes
the modern countries of Angola, the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Republic of Congo and
Gabon. Among the locals it has a reputation of prestige and devastating cutting ability. The
blade is 1070 carbon steel and has an intensely curved 18 3/4 inch reach. This
piece is 26 3/4 inches overall and very well balanced.
The crescent was viewed among the peoples of Africa, as well
as the rest of the world, as a symbol of change. And there is no greater change than
death. Which sheds light on the Congolese capitol punishment rituals preformed involving more
ceremonial versions of this weapon. Sold
